About Me
I am a trained counsellor, registered with New Zealand Association of Counsellors as a provisional member. I work mainly with young adults in private practice and as a contract counsellor in youth mental health.
Before I trained as a counsellor, I worked for 14 years as a lecturer in tertiary education, a mentor for vulnerable young people and as a volunteer counsellor for crisis lines in New Zealand and the UK.
I am a single mom to two daughters and a son (all successful young adults now and my best friends). I understand and relate with the struggles and ‘get’ the fears and worries that young adults navigate in their lives. I bring to my counselling practice the unconditional love and deep empathy of a mother, solution focused creativity of an educator and migrant skills and values on cross-cultural communication and flexibility to comprehend diverse worldviews. My intersectionality provides me with a genuine understanding of the challenges faced by diverse cultural, ethnic and minority groups.
